Chronicles of the Riddiculed
Well, not quite riddiculed.I did, however, have interviews with 2 American investment banks today. The first is a well-known one, probably quite well-regarded in the industry. I didn't really expect them to call and give me a phone interview but that's what they did so I just had to answer questions on the spot.
Which was, of course, horrendous.
Needless to say, I'm going to start taking my finance and accounting courses more seriously. But in any case, this interview was highly focused, lots of questions on corporate finance. I was surprised by the focus that it had on M&As but I think even my DCF needs some revision. Good lord (and probably good luck).
It wasn't the best of feelings but I suppose I should be glad that I did alright for most of the questions. Don't think I was clearly dinged, but who knows? Let's see how things turn out.
The interview later in the day was with an American investment bank with a very strong focused presence in this region. I had 3 interviewers at 7 in the evening. They didn't start on time - we probably started around 7.15 or 7.30. Much of these interviews focused a lot on the getting to know you bit and somewhat less on the technical questions, which I unfortunately botched up. I liked the 3 interviewers, though. The interviews more or less went well - but who knows? Nobody ever knows why you get dinged any more.
I would blog more but fatigue sinks in after a whole day of interviewing. Try it some time if you get bored.

I tell you this is too much. There were so many students from the sch applying for various positions. God knows how many interns they are actually employing and no one bothered to ask about the salary either! And we were made to take some SAT-style test which practically depleted my brain cells after this horribly long day. GAH. Curses!
